## Before you start

- Before buying or cutting, resolve the site foundation and anchorage, roof knee and peak joints and restraint, door header, and loft supports and connections. Obtain the framing and panel fastening schedule. The loft has no assigned load rating.
- The floor measures 120″ across the door wall and 120″ from front to back. Select this size's materials, cut list and CAD files together.
- Nominal 2×4 framing measures 1½″ × 3½″. The walls, corner backing and gable studs use this section. Follow the cut list for the other members.
- Layout positions start at the front-left outside floor corner. Measure width across the door wall, depth toward the rear and heights above the finished floor.

## Instructions

### 1. Confirm the structural and site details

- Use this size's dimensions and the requirements for the property.
- Confirm the shed location, required setbacks, access, drainage and permit requirements for the property.
- Have the foundation and anchorage, floor and loft supports, door header, gambrel joints and resistance to roof spread checked for the site loads.
- Obtain a written connection schedule covering fastener type, diameter, length, spacing, edge distances and connectors. Include panel fastening and treated-lumber compatibility.
- Record the approved lumber grades, panel grades and thicknesses, hardware and roof assembly. Update the model and lists if that check changes them.

Check: Do not purchase structural materials or cut parts until the outstanding design details are resolved.

### 2. Check the selected package

- Use the materials list, cut list, CAD files and a printed or saved copy of the guide.
- Confirm the selected footprint is 120″ × 120″. The first dimension runs across the double-door wall.
- Read the entire sequence and identify the floor, four walls, roof frames, rear loft and two door leaves in the model.
- Save the connection schedule beside the cut list. Mark any approved departures before using either document.
- Arrange enough help to lift wall and roof assemblies. Plan stable work platforms and temporary bracing before framing starts.

Check: Every drawing and list describes the same shed size and revision.

### 3. Purchase and protect the materials

- Buy full boards, sheets, selected hardware and finishing supplies from the purchase list.
- Check board lengths and grades at the store. A nominal 8-foot board is not interchangeable with a shorter precut wall stud.
- Include the selected foundation materials, connectors, framing and panel fasteners, flashing and roofing supplies in the order.
- Stack lumber flat on raised supports. Keep panels flat, dry and protected while leaving airflow beneath the cover.
- Keep hardware labels and installation sheets with their matching products.

Check: All required selections have quantities before the order is placed.

### 4. Sort and label the stock

- Use the lumber, cut list, tape measure and pencil.
- Reject split, badly twisted or damaged pieces. Set the straightest stock aside for door leaves, opening jambs and roof frames.
- Write each part ID on its stock allocation before cutting. Keep treated floor stock separate from dry wall and roof stock.
- Mark a crown on each framing member where it bows along its length. Keep crowns consistent within each assembly.
- Cut the longest scheduled pieces first and retain labeled offcuts for listed short pieces and blocking.

Check: Every board has a planned use; kerfs and end trimming fit within the stock allocation.

### 5. Cut the floor members

- Use the scheduled runners, rim members, joists and blocking.
- Square one stock end and measure each finished length from it. Put the saw kerf on the waste side of the line.
- Cut one piece of each repeated length and check it before making the rest. Label every piece with its cut-list ID.
- Cut blocking to the listed clear gaps between members. Keep end offcuts separate from any wood needed for later assemblies.
- Treat cut ends of preservative-treated lumber with the treatment product required for that stock.

Check: Floor part counts and lengths match the cut list.

### 6. Cut the wall members

- Use the 2×4 wall plates, studs, corner backing, opening members and scheduled header stock.
- Lay out the bottom plates, first top plates and cap plates separately so their lengths and joints do not get mixed.
- Cut common wall studs to 79 1/2″. Cut the shorter opening studs and corner members to their own listed lengths.
- Label front, back, left and right assemblies. Mark pieces that belong at a plate splice or sheet edge.
- Keep the door header plies, spacer and supporting studs together. Use the section and connections confirmed when selecting the structural details.

Check: All four walls include their end studs and corner backing; no preassembled parts are required.

### 7. Prepare the roof and gable cuts

- Use the roof-segment, gusset and gable schedules.
- Lay out a full-size roof profile on a flat work surface using the model's eave, knee and peak coordinates.
- Transfer the scheduled end cuts to one lower and one upper segment. Check the pieces on the profile before cutting repeated parts.
- Label left and right members and keep their cut faces oriented correctly. Do not mirror a cut by turning the wrong face upward.
- Make gusset templates only after the joint detail specifies their shape, material, grain direction and fastening. Cut the approved number of matching pieces.

Check: A dry-fit roof profile matches the model width and rise before batch cutting.

### 8. Cut the loft and door stock

- Use the loft posts, beam plies, ledger, joists, door rails and door stiles.
- Cut each loft member to its own scheduled length. Label the beam plies and mark any splice locations shown in the approved detail.
- Set aside the loft supports and their connectors so they cannot be mistaken for wall offcuts.
- Cut the door frame stock and lay out both leaves as mirror images. Keep the hinge edges identified.
- Leave any items marked fit-to-opening or field-fit uncut until the corresponding opening is built and measured.

Check: The loft and both doors have complete sets of labeled raw-stock parts.

### 9. Lay out the sheet cuts

- Use floor, wall, roof, loft and door panels from the cut list.
- Follow the sheet-allocation drawing for this size. Mark the face, strength direction and assembly name on every piece before cutting.
- Account for saw kerfs and the panel manufacturer's required joint gaps. Do not reduce framing spacing to conceal an incorrect sheet cut.
- Cut the rectangular panels on a supported surface. Save the shaped gable cuts until the installed roof profile can be checked.
- Prime or seal cut siding edges as required by the siding product. Protect all cut panels from rain.

Check: Sheet quantities cover the labeled panels and their required gaps.

### 10. Lay out the site

- Use stakes, string, tape measure and the approved foundation layout.
- Remove vegetation and unsuitable material within the foundation area according to the selected foundation detail.
- Set out the 120″ × 120″ floor rectangle and mark the door side. Leave room for the doors to swing and for roof projections.
- Measure both diagonals between the same corner points. Adjust the strings until the diagonals agree and opposite sides match.
- Set a level reference height and mark each footing or bearing location from the approved foundation plan.

Check: The foundation layout is square, correctly located and high enough for the selected drainage detail.

### 11. Build the foundation

- Use the foundation materials and anchorage selected for the site.
- Excavate, compact and place the specified foundation materials at the marked locations.
- Set the bearings to one level plane. Check every bearing with the same level reference.
- Install embedded anchors or connectors at the specified locations while they remain accessible.
- Allow concrete or other curing materials to reach the condition required by their installation instructions before loading them.

Check: Every bearing and anchor matches the approved foundation detail.

### 12. Set the runners

- Use the scheduled 4×4 runners and their connectors.
- Set runner centerlines at 5 1/4″, 48″, 80″, 114 3/4″ from the left floor edge. Keep their ends aligned with the front and rear floor edges.
- Check their top faces for level across the width and along the depth.
- Provide full bearing at each support. Use only the leveling method specified for this foundation.
- Secure the runners to their supports using the approved anchors and leave the floor connections accessible.

Check: Runner spacing, bearing and level match the model and foundation detail.

### 13. Assemble the floor frame

- Use the rim members, floor joists and approved framing fasteners.
- Place the rim members on a flat surface or on the leveled runners. Orient joist crowns consistently upward.
- Mark joist centerlines on both rims at 3/4″, 16″, 32″, 48″, 64″, 80″, 96″, 112″, 119 1/4″ from the front floor edge. Mark each joist's two faces ¾″ either side of its centerline.
- Position the end joists and intermediate joists between the rims. Keep their top edges flush.
- Fasten each connection with the specified framing connection. Use the scheduled supports wherever a member is not carried by direct bearing.

Check: The frame has every scheduled joist at its marked station.

### 14. Block and square the floor

- Use the floor blocking and a tape measure.
- Install the scheduled blocking, including supports beneath panel seams and loft-post load paths.
- Measure the outside width and depth. They must remain 120″ × 120″.
- Measure both diagonals and move the frame until they agree. Clamp or temporarily brace the frame in that position.
- Check that no joist sits high, twists out of line or lacks bearing on the runners.

Check: The square frame is level and the loft supports will bear over the intended floor support path.

### 15. Connect the floor to its supports

- Use the approved runner-to-floor connections.
- Align the floor frame with the foundation layout and confirm the intended overhang at each edge.
- Install the specified connectors at every required runner and joist location.
- Recheck square and level after tightening the connections.
- Remove temporary assembly blocks only after the permanent support connections are complete.

Check: The floor frame is anchored through to the foundation before decking conceals its underside.

### 16. Fit the floor deck

- Use the floor panels, spacers and any specified flooring adhesive.
- Lay floor panels with their strength direction toward the rear, across the floor joists. Place supported edges over the framing shown in the sheet layout.
- Dry-fit the remaining panels. Stagger joints as shown and leave the manufacturer's required panel gaps.
- Mark joist and blocking lines on the panel faces. Confirm all panel seams have the specified support or edge joint.
- Trim only where the cut list or a checked field fit requires it. Keep the outside deck edges aligned with the floor frame.

Check: The deck layout fits the footprint without unsupported seams.

### 17. Fasten the floor deck

- Use the deck fastening schedule and specified adhesive, if required.
- Lift panels as needed to apply the specified adhesive to clean, dry framing.
- Fasten each panel along its marked framing lines, using the required edge and field spacing.
- Set heads to the product's required depth without tearing through the panel face.
- Recheck the floor diagonals and mark the four wall reference lines on the finished deck.

Check: The completed floor is square, supported and ready for wall layout.

### 18. Mark the wall plates

- Use each wall's bottom and top plates, square and pencil.
- Pair the plates for each wall with their corresponding ends aligned.
- Transfer every stud station from the wall layout to both plates at once. Mark full studs, corner backing, opening supports and panel-edge studs distinctly.
- Mark plate joints and the cap-plate laps between adjoining walls.
- Lay the labeled plates on the floor in their assembled orientation before adding studs.

Check: All four wall layouts agree with the model, including their different corner joints.

### 19. Build the side-wall frames

- Use side-wall plates, common studs and the specified framing fasteners.
- Place the bottom and first top plates on edge with the stud marks facing inward.
- Set side-wall stud centers at 3/4″, 2 1/4″, 16″, 32″, 48″, 64″, 80″, 96″, 112″, 117 3/4″, 119 1/4″ from the front floor edge. Keep crowns consistent and ends seated against both plates.
- Fasten the stud-to-plate connections using the approved schedule.
- Measure both frame diagonals and square each wall. Add temporary diagonal braces to hold it square for lifting.

Check: Both side frames contain every end and intermediate stud shown in the layout.

### 20. Build the corner backing

- Use the additional 2×4 corner members shown at each wall intersection.
- Identify the corner arrangement in the model before fastening adjoining pieces.
- Pair the added backing stud with the side wall's end stud, with their 3½″ faces across the side-wall thickness. The end wall fits between the side walls against this backing.
- Fasten the built-up corner members together according to the connection schedule.
- Repeat at all four corners and compare their positions with the adjoining wall plates.

Check: Each corner has its full 2×4 backing assembly and a fastening face for both walls.

### 21. Build the rear-wall frame

- Use rear-wall plates and studs.
- Lay out the rear frame on the deck with its exterior face identified.
- Place its studs at the marked stations, including the members supporting the loft ledger and panel joints.
- Fasten the frame, compare its diagonals and hold it square with temporary bracing.
- Check that its end studs meet the side-wall corner arrangement without occupying the same space.

Check: The rear frame matches its modeled width and includes the loft-ledger support locations.

### 22. Frame the door supports

- Use the front plates, king studs and shorter jack studs that support the header.
- Mark the rough opening from 28″ to 92″ across the front floor edge.
- Assemble each jack stud against its full-height king stud, with the bearing faces and bottoms aligned as shown.
- Place the two support assemblies on their marks and fasten them to the front frame.
- Measure the clear opening between the jack studs. The modeled opening is 64″ wide.

Check: Both header supports are in place and the opening width matches the model.

### 23. Assemble and set the header

- Use the specified header plies, spacer and specified connectors.
- Place the ½″ plywood spacer between the two 2×6 header plies to make a 3½″-thick header, subject to the specified header detail.
- Fasten the plies together using the specified pattern; keep their bearing ends flush.
- Seat the assembled header on both jack studs and connect it to the surrounding frame.
- Confirm the header underside leaves the modeled 72″ rough opening above the finished floor.

Check: The header bears on both supports and the opening height matches the model.

### 24. Complete the front frame

- Use the remaining front studs and short studs above the header.
- Install the remaining studs at their marked stations on both sides of the opening.
- Fit the short studs above the header between it and the top plate.
- Square the frame and brace it for lifting. Keep the door opening square as well as the outer frame.
- If a temporary bottom-plate section spans the door opening, mark it for removal after the front wall is secured.

Check: The front wall has complete framing around and above the opening.

### 25. Raise and brace the rear wall

- Use helpers, temporary braces and the approved wall-to-floor fasteners.
- Place the rear wall bottom plate on its reference line and plan a clear lifting path.
- Raise the wall with enough help to control its weight. Secure its bottom plate to the scheduled floor framing.
- Plumb the wall in both directions and fasten temporary diagonal braces to secure anchors.
- Keep the braces in place while the adjoining walls are raised.

Check: The rear wall is secured, plumb and stable before anyone releases it.

### 26. Raise the side walls

- Use both side frames and their wall-to-floor and corner connections.
- Raise one side wall onto its reference line and secure its bottom plate.
- Bring its corner tight to the rear wall in the modeled arrangement. Fasten the corner connection.
- Plumb and brace the side wall, then repeat for the opposite side.
- Check the distance between the side-wall top plates at the front, middle and rear.

Check: The three walls are plumb, braced and spaced correctly along the floor.

### 27. Raise the front wall

- Use the completed front frame and its connections.
- Raise the front wall onto its reference line and connect its bottom plate and both corners.
- Plumb the opening supports and check that both opening diagonals agree.
- Secure the wall with temporary bracing and remove any temporary plate section across the doorway without cutting the deck.
- Run a string along the wall tops and adjust bowed walls before fitting the cap plates.

Check: All four walls are plumb and the door opening remains square.

### 28. Tie the wall tops together

- Use the scheduled cap plates and corner connections.
- Install the second top plates in the modeled sequence so the corner laps connect adjoining walls.
- Place cap-plate joints only at the scheduled supported locations and stagger them from the plate joints below.
- Fasten the cap plates to the lower plates and across the corners according to the schedule.
- Check the completed wall-top plane at the modeled height of 84″ above the floor. Keep temporary braces installed.

### 29. Assemble the first roof frame

- Use the full-size roof layout, roof segments and approved knee and peak joints. The view shows their installed positions; assemble each frame flat.
- Clamp stops along the checked roof profile so repeated frames cannot drift in width or height.
- Arrange both lower and upper segments with their cut faces seated at the knees and peak.
- Fit the approved gussets or connectors on the specified faces. Keep the frame flat while fastening.
- Install every required tie or restraint included in the specified roof-frame detail before lifting.

Check: The completed frame matches the profile and has the approved resistance to roof spread.

### 30. Make the remaining roof frames

- Use the first checked frame as a pattern and the scheduled remaining parts. The view shows the complete set in place.
- Build each frame against the same jig stops and use the same connection sequence.
- Compare its width, peak height and knee positions with the first frame before removing it from the jig.
- Label each frame with its installation station, including the distinct end frames.
- Store the frames upright or flat with continuous support so their joints do not rack during handling.

Check: All roof frames match the checked profile and their complete joint schedules.

- Check each bearing and roof-to-wall connector location against the specified detail.

### 32. Erect and brace the roof frames

- Use helpers, stable access, roof-to-wall connectors and temporary bracing.
- Lift an end frame onto its marked bearings and secure it against movement.
- Plumb the frame and brace it back to stable wall framing.
- Lift the remaining frames in order, connect their bearings and install temporary spacers and diagonal braces as you go.
- Sight the eaves, knees and ridge. Adjust the frames into straight lines before enclosure work fixes their positions.

- Use the scheduled gable studs, backing and panel-edge members.
- Mark the gable-stud locations above each end wall and check their fit to the installed roof profile.
- Cut or trim the scheduled upper ends to seat against their designated roof member.

- Provide support at the panel joints, trim edges and any openings included in the selected enclosure detail.

### 34. Set the loft posts

- Use the loft posts, post bases and the supports shown in the floor layout.
- Mark loft-post centers at 5 1/4″, 48″, 80″, 114 3/4″ from the left floor edge and 70″ from the front floor edge.
- Confirm each location has the specified framing and foundation load path beneath it.
- Set the 69″ posts with their bearing faces aligned, then plumb and temporarily brace them.
- Install the approved post-base connections without relying on the floor panel alone to carry a post.

### 35. Assemble and place the loft beam

- Use the two beam plies and their specified fastening and support detail.
- Lay the beam plies together with crowns aligned and their top and bottom edges flush.
- Place any joints only at the specified locations over supports. Do not join short pieces end to end between posts.
- Fasten the plies together with the specified pattern.
- Set the beam on the posts with its top at 74 1/2″ above the floor. Level it and install the specified beam-to-post connections.

Check: The front loft beam is level, fully supported and secured to every post.

### 36. Install the rear loft ledger

- Use the ledger and its approved wall connections.
- Mark the ledger top at 74 1/2″ above the floor, level with the front beam top. Its exact attachment still follows the approved detail.
- Hold the ledger level at its modeled position and mark every connection into the intended wall stud or support.
- Attach it with the specified ledger connection; do not fasten it only to enclosure panels.
- Check the beam and ledger heights against the joist bearing or hanger detail before proceeding.

### 37. Install the loft joists and deck

- Use loft joists, blocking, connectors and the loft panel schedule.
- Mark loft joist centers at 4 1/4″, 16″, 32″, 48″, 64″, 80″, 96″, 112″, 115 3/4″ from the left floor edge. Install each joist crown up. The finished loft deck top is 80 3/4″ above the floor.
- Fit the specified hangers or bearing connections and install the scheduled blocking and edge support.
- Place loft panels with their strength direction across the shed width, perpendicular to the loft joists. Dry-fit with the required gaps, then fasten using the panel schedule.
- Keep the loft unloaded until its full support system, connections and any required access and fall protection are complete.

### 38. Flash the wall openings and joints

- Use the selected wall weather barrier, flashing and compatible sealants.
- Install the weather barrier required behind the selected wall panels, with upper layers lapping over lower layers. Follow the specified wall assembly if it requires a separate sheathing layer.
- Flash the door sill, jambs and head in the order specified for the selected products.
- Integrate the head flashing with the wall weather barrier so water drains outward. Keep it ready to lap over the opening trim.
- Keep intended drainage paths open. Do not substitute caulk for a required flashing piece.

- Use the scheduled exterior wall panels and the panel product's installation instructions.
- Snap reference lines on the exterior framing to locate the first panel and required bottom clearance.
- Dry-fit the wall panels around the shed with the scheduled orientation and manufacturer-required gaps.
- Center supported joints on their framing and add any approved edge backing before covering the wall.
- Keep the doors' rough opening clear and preserve the specified clearance above grade and horizontal surfaces.

### 40. Fasten the walls and gables

- Use wall and gable panels and their fastening schedule.
- Fasten the first wall panel while the wall remains plumb and braced. Work across each wall without forcing joints closed.
- Transfer the installed roof profile to the gable panels, verify it against the cut drawing and cut the shaped edges.
- Fit and fasten the gable panels to their framing. Keep the roof-edge and panel-joint clearances specified by the product.
- Complete the specified permanent bracing before removing any temporary braces that it replaces.

### 41. Fit the roof sheathing

- Use roof panels, specified edge support and panel spacers.
- Check the roof framing and temporary bracing again before anyone works above the walls.
- Place roof panels with their strength direction from front to rear, across the roof frames. Follow the sheet layout even where an offcut's longest edge runs the other way.
- Dry-fit the other panels on that facet, leaving required gaps. Support panel edges with the specified blocking or clips.
- Repeat on all four roof facets. Check the knee transitions, eaves and ridge before fastening the entire roof.

Check: Every roof panel fits its facet with supported joints and the required gaps.

### 42. Fasten the roof deck

- Use the roof panel fastening schedule and safe roof access.
- Fasten the first checked panel to each supporting frame using the specified edge and field spacing.
- Work along each facet while checking the roof frames stay aligned.
- Complete any required permanent roof bracing and connectors while access remains open.
- Inspect for missed framing, overdriven fasteners and unsupported panel corners before covering the deck.

Check: The complete roof deck is fastened, straight and ready for the selected weather layers.

### 43. Build the two door frames

- Use the door stiles, rails, braces and approved door connections.
- Measure the completed opening before cutting field-fit parts. Each modeled door leaf is 31 11/16″ wide and 71 5/8″ high.
- Lay the first leaf on a flat surface with its hinge side marked. Assemble the rails and stiles in the modeled arrangement.
- Compare the leaf diagonals and clamp it square before fastening.
- Build the second leaf as its matching counterpart. Fit each diagonal brace from the lower hinge corner toward the upper meeting corner.

Check: Both door frames are square and their combined width leaves the scheduled clearances.

### 44. Attach the door skins and finish edges

- Use door panels, exterior fasteners and the specified edge finish.
- Place each skin on its door frame with the face and edge offsets shown in the door layout.
- Fasten it to the rails, stiles and any brace according to the door detail.
- Trim the skin only after rechecking the leaf dimensions and diagonals.
- Seal or prime the panel edges, including the bottom and hinge edges, before hanging the doors.

- Use the scheduled jamb or hinge backing, hinges and their specified fasteners.
- Fit the jamb or hinge backing at the modeled opening faces, keeping both sides plumb.
- Mark hinge positions on each leaf and its backing. Use the hardware manufacturer's required edge distances and support.
- Predrill as required and attach the hinges without splitting the framing.
- Support the leaves on temporary blocks and spacers at the scheduled bottom and side clearances.

### 46. Hang and align the doors

- Use helpers, door spacers and the hinge fasteners.
- Attach the hinges to the opening while the leaves remain supported on their temporary blocks.
- Set 1/8″ side gaps, a 1/8″ top gap, a 1/4″ bottom gap and a 3/8″ meeting gap before tightening all connections.
- Remove the supports and swing each leaf through its intended travel. Correct rubbing, sag or a twisted jamb before adding stops.
- Recheck the closed leaves for even alignment across the opening.

- Use door stops, meeting strip, latch, bolts and hasp as selected.
- Close both leaves and fit the perimeter stops to the modeled contact faces without forcing the doors out of line.
- Install the meeting strip on the designated leaf, leaving the required overlap and swing clearance.
- Install the fixed-leaf bolts and their receivers, then fit the latch or hasp to solid backing.
- Operate every bolt and latch with the doors open and closed. Add the selected weather seals without blocking drainage.

- Measure the installed surfaces before making field-fit trim cuts.

### 49. Install roof edge metal and underlayment

- Use the selected drip edge, underlayment, transition flashing and roofing instructions.
- Start at the eaves with the edge metal and any membrane required by the selected roof assembly.
- Apply underlayment from low to high so each upper course sheds onto the lower course. Use the specified laps and fastening.
- Fit the required knee-transition flashing or membrane. Follow the product detail for both roof pitches and the pitch change.
- Install rake edge metal and other edge layers in the order required by the roofing system. Leave any designed ventilation openings clear.

- Use the selected roofing, starter course and ridge components.
- Confirm the covering is approved for both modeled roof pitches and for installation across the gambrel transitions.
- Install the starter and field courses with the specified exposure, stagger, nail locations and fastener count.
- Finish each knee transition using the selected roof system's detail; do not bend or force rigid pieces across the change in pitch.
- Install the ridge closure and any designed ridge ventilation. Seal only the locations the roofing instructions specify.

- Use compatible exterior sealant, primer and finish for the selected products.
- Allow wet materials to dry to the coating manufacturer's requirements.
- Fill and seal the joints specified by the siding and trim products. Leave drainage and ventilation openings unblocked.
- Prime exposed cut edges and unfinished surfaces, then apply the required finish coats.
- Protect hinges, latches, roof coverings and other parts that should not receive paint.

- Use the approved drawings, connection schedule and hardware instructions.
- Inspect the foundation-to-roof connection path and compare accessible connectors with the approved schedule.
- Check wall plumb, roof alignment, enclosure joints and the operation of both doors.
- Remove temporary bracing only where the completed permanent structure replaces it. Clear loose fasteners and offcuts from the site.
- Record the loft's approved use and load limit, and complete any required access, edge protection or inspection before using it.
- Save the final drawings and product instructions for future maintenance.
